Who We Are
We are the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, a public association of the faithful approved in 2008 by Bishop William Skylstad of Spokane, Washington.
Distinguished by our Marian blue habits and joyful spirits, we are religious sisters living and laboring in the Catholic diocese of Spokane.
Called to a life of total consecration to Christ and His Church, we have come from all parts of the country and from varied walks of life to dedicate our time and talents completely to the service of God and neighbor.
We recognize the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience as a gift of the most Holy Trinity, which we embrace by vow in loving response to our call to religious consecration. These vows constitute the essence of our religious lives and impart stability and higher consecration. They lovingly compel us to live as Christ lived in areas which cover our whole life: possessions, affections and autonomy.
Christ’s love has gathered us together by a common consecration and for a common mission. Therefore, we worship, study, work and recreate as family, living in a spirit of fraternal love and friendship.
