Retreat: Creation, Design, Mystery and Light: Observations and Spiritual Reflections on Contemporary Astronomy and Astrophysics
July 17-19, 2009
by Bishop William Skylstad, D.D.
and Fr. Robert Spitzer, S.J
The universe in which we live provides a rich background for spiritual reflection, awe, mystery, and a continuing search into the unknown and what lies beyond. The excitement of astronomers in their search should also be the excitement for our spiritual probing into the wonderful works of creation. This retreat will provide the opportunity to reflect prayerfully upon the journey of coming more and more to know our universe and its complexity. Our human limitations provide a humbling appreciation of the constantly evolving universe of which we are a part. Light in the universe also reminds us of the great power and mystery of the light of Christ in our lives. Just to see and observe what we have discovered calls us to a profound sense of gratitude for beauty, death, birth, discovery and mystery. Our universe is wonderfully dynamic, and so should be our spiritual journey! Conferences included
The Retreat was awe-inspiring and wonderful.
