                             Catechetical Evening of Prayer series

 

When?    The last Tuesday evening of the month from January to December, 2010

Where?   Immaculate Heart Retreat Center

Who presents?  The first presenter will be Bishop Skystad.   (Complete list below)

 

A selection of teachers, including priests, deacons and religious of the diocese, will take participants through a survey of the Catechism of the Catholic Church in an appealing an infomative venue of 12 Classes throught the year in order to learn, appreciate and reflect upon the Catholic Faith.  We are blessed to have teachers for this course who were invited to give input in the development of the Adult Catechism.

 

This introductory course is suitable for those who wish to answer specific questions in the various stages of our pilgrimage.     The course will cover      1.) the creed,       2.) the sacraments,                 3) morality     and  4.) prayer.

 

The presentation will follow the divisions of the 1985 Catechism and will utilize other documents and sources acceptable and credited by the Church.

 

Schedule

5:00 PM - Mass

5:45 PM  - Dinner

6:30 PM  - conference #1 followed by Q&A and then time for silent reflection. 

7:30 PM - Conference #2 followed by Q&A and then time for reflection.

Ends by 9:00 PM


                   A Special Acknowledgment

 

We are honored to have the former President of the USCCB, Bishop William Skylstad, who requested from the Holy See the “recognitio” for the US Catholic Catechism for Adults.  In addition, Sister Mary Garvin and Father Charles Skok were both asked to review sections of the U. S. Catholic Catechism for Adults. 


We are blessed to have these individuals assist us in facilitating this year’s Catechetical Evening of Prayer Series, among their talented and learned  colleagues who join us in teaching the catechism at our retreat center.
